TENTATIVE SCENES BASED ON WEATHER, DANCER/PHOTOGRAPHER AVAILABILITY.
SCENE ONE: Talia runs up to tree to interact/play near tree. If Irene's girls Amelia and Dyana are present, they then run up and join her. If Mateo is present, he will be sitting or standing by the tree.
SCENE TWO: Lisa as Crone, Alissa as Mother, Daisy as Maiden, Talia as Child weave around trees with large silk gauze veil (just as we did in rehearsal several weeks ago, Daisy, I'll update you with this prior to filming if you are able to make the trip to Cincy! Talia breaks off of end of veil and runs up to tree. Amelia and Dyana (if present) run up to join her and play/interact.
SCENE THREE: Irene, Synthia, Romana, Missy, Laura, and any other experienced veil dancers present will improv dance with large silk gauze veil as a group, and then individual white and black veils improv.
WARMTH BREAK in cars or frisbee golf warm up lodge in mt. airy, or lisa's house if needed.
SCENE FOUR: Entire group circling one large tree or a few smaller trees in black costuming/black or dark boots/dark snow appropriate shoes. group first does the breathing in (arms up) breathing out (arms down) hand holding. We'll try this scene with me in the center if flat, clear area nearby.
SCENE FIVE: Entire group, while sitting on black tarps, or standing facing tree/trees dances the give/receive tai chi like hands/arms move in unison. Group evolves to their own rhythm, and begins interacting with tree/eachother/roots/ground/etc. (improv) with the theme of giving/receiving. Group ends by all touching tree with one or both hands, resting postures. One by one, or in small pairs, 3/4 of dancers walk off in different directions (pausing between dancer exits, so that I can film each dancer/small group walking off separately). several dancers stay at the tree, so that I can get lengthy footage of their stillness/breathing with tree.
WARMTH BREAK
SCENE SIX: Dancers who walk off will be filmed again in one of the following ways: walking off into horizon, walking to a unique tree (old tree with root crevices to sit in, dead standing tree trunk, low branches to perch in, decaying tree lying on ground to lay next to/on, crawling under tree with low branch overhang and sit, etc. to find a place to rest. We may have to limit the number of dancers who end up in final poses due to weather/time. You can really make this a meditative/transformative winter experience and personalize how you walk to the tree, how you move into your final pose/movements to portray rest, release, hibernation, death of one form or another, etc. I have places already scoped out at mt. airy for these, or you can be inspired the day of the filming and find your own place of rest. Tina then takes high art still shots or motion shots....she may pose you in a resting spot (arrange your posture/arms/hands, place leaves around/on you (!) etc.) We will put down large black plastic garbage bags/blankets for you to sit/lay on and arrange costuming over the blankets/bags, so you stay warm and dry as possible if your final pose/movement is on the ground!! We may also get film footage for a few dancers of me walking past you (as crone goddess in crone mask) as you settle into your place of rest, or if children are at film shoot, film child walking past you, dancing past you. The number of dancers who will do this will depend on time, weather and human comfort factors! I will need to get some footage of you in the resting position in addition to Tina's photographs.
TENTATIVE FILM DATES:
SATURDAY 1/23 and SUNDAY 1/24
Early Morning and/or Later Afternoon.
COSTUME INFO COMING WHEN I SEE WHAT DAYS/WHO IS AVAILABLE ON WHAT DAYS. I'll edit down the scenes if needed, but if extra time and interest, we will improv after scenes are filmed, because you never know what inspiration we will find on film day!
Here are some possible scene locations for individual dancers, as described in Scene 6. Almost all of these trees are near the warming station for frisbee golfers at Mt. Airy, so near a building, with heat, and restroom!!

someone could stand inside this tree (if it is solid enough inside) and assume the pose of arms outstretched above head, just as the tree is...could fade the person away in editing, and fade into tree only very slow.. kind of cool if the arms can match the tree shape and be slightly lower than the tree! it is larger than it looks in this photo!
Someone could lie on the "shelf" of this tree trunk (it is big enough) or half on trunk, half dangling off trunk. maybe if a hand or arm dangles off the edge and Tina could get some close ups of just the hand dangling off the edge in addition to other interesting close ups! We could film without leaves on top of person, add some leaves, film again, etc. to change the "weathering" of the dancer back into the earth. Put some snow on tope of someone too, for the really adventurous! This also might be interesting place to have several dancers "resting on/near this fallen trunk. various limbs dangling off of trunk, intertwined limbs, etc. oh the possibilities!
IN tree above, part of trunk is hollowed out, in addition to roots nooks and crannies. pic would not upload to web page rotated, sorry.

For the adventurous dancer, you could walk to a fallen tree and settle in with the branches. this tree is on a hill. would be neat to have dancer head/arms facing downhill, feet uphill. Not sure how feasible it is to get under the branches, but wow, might be kinda cool!

Can't see it well in photo above, but in person, there is room for someone to sit under this. there are interesting twining branches throughout. Could also curl around trunk.
IN tree above, someone could possible perch in the branches. There were other trees around this area also, that could possibly be a place to "perch" in a tree.
This tree is in the arborateum by the lake at Mt. Airy. There are also other pines that someone could lie, sit, stand under. it would be interesting to include at least one pine, for the green color. Arborateum not the best place to film though, as there are green fences around individual plants/trees throughout that section. Maybe one person could film here, for the pine tree resting scene.
